William L. Howard, II

(as written by Danette)

I always tell William that he is my real-life Prince Charming.  He came into my life just when I needed him most, and has brought a calming, reassuring and peaceful force to my world.  He is my strongest supporter, my biggest fan and my closest friend - in a nut shell, he is more than I ever hoped for. Despite all of his wonderful qualities I am most grateful that  William is a man after God's own heart.  Heaven smiled upon me when our paths crossed a year and a half ago, and I can't wait to begin our lives together as husband and wife.

Dr. Danette S. Gerald

(as written by William)

As I fondly refer to her as "Doc", Danette has become my best friend, my confidant and the "Great" love of my life.  When we first met, I knew she was the woman I would ask to be my wife. She is the most brillant, beautiful (inside & out), loving and caring woman whom I have grown to know and love.  She was the answer to my prayers....which was to be happy.  Simply, she is heaven sent, and a true blessing for which I can't imagine life without.

Our First Date - 8/16/06
(from William's perspective)

We had the perfect first date. Ice cream at Coldstone Creamery on a beautiful late summer evening. We talked, and talked and talked some more, until we both realized that we had to go to work the next morning. That night I knew I wanted Danette to be my wife. The next day I sent her a beautiful bouquet of flowers and she later told me that after she received the flowers she called her mom and told her that she had just met the man she was going to marry.  The rest, as they say, is history, and Coldstone continues to be one of our all-time favorite spots.  Who ever said that ice cream isn't good for you?

Right after we got engaged - YEAH!!!

Our Engagement Story - 2/15/08
(from Danette's perspective)

It all began with a beautiful Valentine's Day celebration that ended with us exchanging gifts.  William presented me with a beautiful portfolio that included momentos that chronicled our entire relationship, such as ticket stubs from all of the movies we've seen, plane tickets from the places we've traveled and play bills from performances we've attended.  While we shared a wonderful Valentine's evening it ended without a proposal.
The next day we headed down to Charlotte, NC to visit William's family for the weekend. Three hours into the road trip we stopped to take a break, and William said, "Will you be my wife, will you marry me?"  And in my surprised state I said, "Are you serious, are you kidding?"  Once I realized that William was, in fact, very serious, I responded with an enthusiastic "YES!".  William and I haven't stopped smiling since.
